Update

Hello Buddies,

Well i am horrible at making time to acutually blog. I have been quiet around here but have been coming on often and checking in on everyone kinda on the outside looking in. After my last blog months back, I did follow what the nutritionist said for a couple weeks and lost a few pounds then but then stopped following what she said and gained them back then i tried some fad diet lost a few pounds gained them back again and then this happened again a couple times (pathetic i know!). So I pretty much spent a few months yo-yoing up and down between these same 10 miserable pounds. In the past month or so however, i have just been cutting calories and lost back those stubborn 10 yo-yoing pounds (probably water weight since it came on and off so easily) plus i have lost another 10 pounds on top of that so 20 all together. I could have obviously lost  more if i had followed what the nutritionist said months ago, however I am still happy that I weigh 20 pounds less than when i went to her and not 20 pounds more! Even tho it’s not a huge deal i am pretty happy to have lost those 10 pounds that kept coming on and off plus another 10 and get over that little bump in this looong road! Other than cutting calories i’ve made some simple changes  like for instance if i want pasta i’ll still have it and i still eat as much of it as i want except for until i’m full and not uncomfortably stuffed and instead of eating regular pasta i’ll eat the ronzoni healthy heart wheat pasta or their smart taste pasta, i enjoy both and they both have less calories and more fiber than regular pasta. Or for instance since I work second shift and go to school I don’t really get time to cook much so for dinner at work i’ll eat a frozen ww meal and maybe bring in some rabi or spinach or brocolli that i made at home as a side and to help fill me and balance the meal. For breakfast (which i’ve starting eating since i’m back in school and out and about earlier) i will sometimes have a banana and some oj which both have lots of potassium and there for help balance sodium which equals less water weight. In addition I have cut down on drinking alcohol and when i do drink i will get diet soda as a mixer instead of cranberry juice as i used to. I have not exercised intentionally at all, although i should have and i will eventually add that in, however, i recently started school again after a couple of semesters off. I think that helps also since i am a little less bored and probly getting more exercise then i realize walking around the campus and then rushing to work afterwards.  So even tho i know that probably half of those 20 pounds I lost was water weight,   i’m still happy and its enough to keep me motivated for a little while and get me excited to keep goin! Hope everyone is doing well, thanks for reading :)

Went to a Nutritionist Today

Hello All, so i joined this site on 02/07/2008 and since then i’ve done the same thing that i always do start a diet be good for a few days and then end up cheating and not getting back on the diet. Feeling helpless, pathetic, useless and ashamed……. So I decided to go to a nutritionist. I went today and I feel pretty good about it. I’ve been on every diet imaginable as i’m sure that most of you can relate. For instance, Weight Watchers, Nutrisystem, LA weight loss, Atkins diet, Jenny Craig, Slimfast, Medifast… Not to mention all the crazy fad diets, the 3 day diet, cabbage souple diet, hollywood 24 hour miracle diet. I’ve also tried not following any particular plan but just eliminating fats from my diet, yeah that didn’t work so much either…

So today when I went to the nutritionist it kinda started to all make since and I realized everything I’ve done has been all wrong. Weight Watchers is hands down the smartest most feasible plan i’ve ever done, however i realize now that even though i was staying with my points range I was eating to many carbs and still out of control portions, instead of more balanced meals with smaller portions being stretched throughout the day. Also the nutritionist was telling me not to be afraid to used oil, mainly olive oil or canola, she told me to use in moderation but to not to even worry about measuring it. So that should help with salads and marinades and also when cooking vegetables and proteins this will add more flavor. This was an interesting revalation to me because I had always thought that I had to avoid this completely because of the high fat content.

Now I have to try to figure out how to work this into my life. I’m not a big cooker since i am a student and I also work second shift… So its been all about grab and go and convenience…. I get the feeling in order to make this work though i’m gonna need to figure something out here. If not i’m gonna stay in this vicious cycle of ordering dinner out from work everynight with coworkers and eating all the wrong portions and types of food….. Maybe I need to start cooking a couple days a week but enough to last for a few days, or maybe make my own “frozen dinners” …. On other diets that I’ve tried I did alot of store bought diet type frozen meals for dinner, but the nutritionist told me I should try to stay away from that since most of them are high in carb contect and also sodium. I don’t know I’m still trying to figure all this out but I wanted to share. Thats all I got for now. I hope everyone’s doing well and i’ll keep you up to date on how this new leg of the journey goes!
